The South Sudan Business Council is an initiative of MEC International, an established business consultancy with over 30 years experience. The SSBC was launched with the blessing of the Government of South Sudan to encourage and facilitate international investment in South Sudan.

The SSBC directors bring their expertise together to make the organisation a success - Brigadier James Ellery, is a director at Aegis and former head of the UN peace-keeping force in South Sudan. Ian Walker, managing director of MEC International- a London-based business consultancy which provides the SSBC secretariat. Lady Olga Maitland also runs the British Algerian Business Council and has much experience of leading trade missions to emerging markets.
